Le coin bleu

Which are our best of these in NC?

"Carrefour  - Question"

My sense is that supermarkets both in NC and here in France have failed to come up with an easy way for customers to offer useful observations and impressions. Instead, it all seems to start with the "third degree" of questions and identification when someone just wants to say - nice apples today, for example. It's a real missed opportunity. Why not just name and e-mail and nothing more?

Impressive lady! Who in NC has done this much to insure that kids in school get healthy meals? Is there an NC leader?

How do we measure how well kids are eating in NC schools of all kinds, not just how rarely do they get sick?

More information about what one eats from food trucks would help us all make better, or at least more informed, decisoins.

What are the NC versions of this? If they don't exist, are they worth considering? I am not sure.

Lowes Foods going downhill fast in my book

Sent this to them today:
"I am not looking for anything in response, but just to give you some general feedback. The new store design gives me the impression that you have dramatically decreased your fresh produce section, and generally are pricing items too high. Today, for example, I wanted fresh peaches - 3.99 at your store and down the street at Harris-Teeter, I bought them instead for 1.99. There are a couple of things that I need to buy regularly in terms of milk and yogurt for my wife and despite my requesting the store to stock them, neither has appeared. My point is that I am finding myself shopping at Lowes less and less and instead of our primary grocery, you have now become a poor second. It's a shame that you have lost your customer focus, or at least focus on this customer."

Note sweet potato reference - for what reason, I am not sure. ConAgra sweet potato processing center?

Nutrition info for fresh food

Why are there no nutrition labels/information for each fresh food item in a supermarket. It's there for the frozen version of the same items, but not fresh. Why? Why not?

Welcome to Helens Foods

I think I heard this mentioned today from one of the television channels covering the DNC in Charlotte.

Searching for mangoes

I had seen some mangoes on sale on one or another supermarket in the past week. When I went to the Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods sites, there is no way that I could find to search on mangoes to find out the in-store price or availability. That's got to change!
