Harris Teeter - Meet Your Neighbor - Fresh Foods

Today I noticed a section at the entrance to a Harris-Teeter with local/regional food items. I guess that's a plus, but somehow it seemed like an awkward addition.I wonder how most customers view this offering.

This looks like a quite valuable site accompanying the cilantro plant I bought a few days ago at Walmart. I mistakenly watered it from the top and I think it may still be recovering.

Corsica produces some wonderful wines. When I stopped at the Durham store this week, I asked if they had any. The response I got was "where's Corsica?". I left.

Gluten Free Chapel Hill

This looks like it expired a year or two ago. Whole Foods Chapel Hill told me this week they got such a poor response to their monthly gluten free store tours that they have canceled them and are working on a plan for something more impressive, they say, a couple of times of year. Matthew, who called, said no date has been set for the first of these and one needs to look at the calendar on the wall inside the store to know when once it is scheduled. That strikes me as more of a marketing gimmick than a sincere interest in helping customers. While at the store, too, the person at the customer service desk could not find on paper or in the computer the list of the gluten free items in the store. Trader Joe's whipped it out for me in an instant a couple of weeks ago, and it is very impressive.

Our Brands : Premium Brand

I called the number on a bread wrapper from a Food Lion purchase yesterday. Will add a scan later. I was really surprised to learn that they will not tell me who supplied the bread. They are the distributor, only. The wrapper came from the unnamed supplier. Shouldn't we be entitled to know who made it?
