Farmacology - Daphne Miller, M.D.

Interesting. She was on Peoples' pharmacy today. It may have been she today who talked about how what mother's eat during pregnancy may affect what their children want to eat. Eat carrots during pregnancy and the child will like them; ditto garlic.....

I live both in Chapel Hill, NC and in Nice, France. Do you sell any of your products overseas, and specifically in France? If not, have you considered doing so?"

Chicken at Fresh Market

I bought chicken at Fresh Market yesterday. This is all I got in the way of a label, except for the paper wrapper which provided me with "Ground Meat Nutrition Facts", not especially helpful for the chicken breasts.

Sanderson Farms boneless chicken

I found a rain check from Lowes Foods from Dec 2013 quoting a sales price of 1.47/lb. Have not seen anything lower than 1.99 recently. Why?

Deceptive

Kroger advertised Mahi Mahi on sale for 5.99. I assumed that was per pound. The fine print told me is it was only 12 ounces. When I got to the store, the regular price was  not marked and so I could not tell how much of a savings I would get at the sale price. I did not buy!

Babeth's Feast

My note to them today....

"I am a native New Yorker who now lives a total of about 6 months in Nice and the rest of the year in North Carolina. We have had a home in France for more than 30 years, and what has struck me is how much more interesting and appealing frozen foods are in France than here, especially at a chain like Picard. I saw the mention of your business in the NYTimes today and I just thought I would send you a note wondering why what you are doing has not taken hold in the US on a much larger and national scale the way it has in France. In Nice, there are many Picards, frozen food delivery serivces and amply stocked supermarket and small shop freezers, but not here. It's not even a question of quality, and I remain baffled why we don't see shops springing up to meet the very demand you describe in your profile. Perhaps you will lead the way! Bon courage!"

Labels are critical; how else do we really know, or come close to knowing?
