Dipteryx odorata - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Found this in a newspaper today in France - the tonka bean - for a recipe with apples and cherries, but when I looked it up, I find that the FDA (US) has banned its use in foods in the US. France allows it. Not sure the rationale for the band but I'll stick with the FDA guidance for now! (Contrast that approach to the use of melatonin -- over the counter in the US, prescription only in France.)
