Here in France, it is fascinating to see how precise the competition is among supermarkets over price. e.LeClerc regularly runs ads that show a price comparison between them and multiple other supermarket groups. e.LeClerc always wins of course. This week, they have run radio ads specifically taking on the price comparison between them and mighty Carrefour, showing Carrefour is higher. Meanwhile, Carrefour Market, a somewhat more upscale arm of Carrefour, claims that its prices on some items are lowere than e.LeClerc and others.
I don't see Food Lion and Harris-Teeter, for example, doing this. The only thing I recall is Wal-Mart's claim that it will meet any advertised price.
